What are the main components of a Pico hydro system and their functions?

Answer:

The components of the PH system comprise of a flowing water channel, pressure pipe (penstock), turbine, generator, electrical controller, distribution cables and safety devices.

Component          
Description
Weir
A small dam or barrage which uses to divert water from the water stream to the pressure pipe .Usually this is form by sand bags.
Forebay and settling tank Water come from the headrace channel needs to filter(remove debris ,sand etc).This is done by using a forebay tank
Penstock A pressure pipe which carries water from the upper elevation to the lower elevation from the weir location
Turbine Water ejected to the turbine converted in to mechanical energy
Generator Generator converts mechanical energy in  to electrical energy
Control unit Control unit controls the generated power and maintain the power quality standards
Distribution cable Distributes the power generated from the  power house to the users
