How to improve the quality of soil polluted with agrochemicals?

The following measures can be taken to improve the soil puluted with agrochemicals.

  • White mardah (Kumbuk) can be grown in aquatic areas. White Mardah has a capability of absorbing the pollutants from the water
  • Kohila, Ingini, Ketala, Lotus plants can absorb the poison form the water.
  • Granular or Chalky soils should be covered with live covers such as Centella (Gotukola) or sessile joyweed (Mukunuwenna), etc.
  • Plants like Nidikumba ( touch me not plant/mimosa), Tel-endaru, Gliricidia are plants are healthy to be grown in soils which agrochemicals are concentrated and removed after 2-3 seasons and then use for cultivation of other crops.
