Why there are black spots on tomatoes?

The causes might be,

  • The lack of Calcium supply
  • The rise of humidity in the night time would block the transport of Calcium to immature leaves
  • Fertilizer with high ratio of Ammonium, Nitrogen, Potassium and/or Magnesium would block the Calcium absorption
  • High salinity and acidity in the soil would be another cause for lack of Calcium absorption

The solutions are as follows;

  • Protect the moisture of the soil. A  mulch can be used for  this
  • Provide sufficient Calcium for the plants
  • Use fertilizer without blocking the absorption of fertilizer
